Merci, Paris {interiors}

After walking for what seemed like miles and miles through the tiny streets of La Marais I finally found my destination. Merci at 111 boulevard Beaumarchais Paris is a concept store that is definitely worth a visit. Make sure you allow plenty of time to enjoy the fabulous interiors in the upstairs loft, the wall to wall books, clothing and funky accessories. You can even buy kitchen accessories and candles downstairs and stop for lunch. It was such a cool place to spend the afternoon, browsing each floor looking for fabulous eat, reads and loves.  I went absolutely crazy over the lighting and decor on the top floor and would have loved to ship everything home. Sigh. Oh and if you feel a little weary from all the excitement, the ground floor has a narrow little bookshop cafe - super friendly service, fresh minted water and cafe creme surrounded by walls of second hand French books and gorgeous chandeliers. I am told some of the profits go to charity too. The perfect place to spend a Paris afternoon. MERCI MERCI x x x

Laduree Tea Salon, Saint-Germain, Paris

After a long time waiting I finally made it to Laduree, the Parisian macaron parlour and icon. Well so I thought. I was a little disappointed when I visited the store on the flagship store on the Avenue des Champs Elysees to find it was closed for renovations!! I couldn't believe that after all this time waiting I would miss it. But alas on our way to Musee d'Orsay my husband suggested we take a different road and we quite literally stumbled upon the beautiful and elegant Laduree in Saint-Germain de pres. Famous for it's iconic black front door and opening by Madeleine Castaing in 1947, this gorgeous little boutique macaron parlour and tea salon sits so quaintly on the corner on rue Jacob and rue Bonaparte, the original meeting place for many celebrities and artists like Soutine, Chagall and Italian painter & sculptor Modigliani. What a treat to sit and enjoy the most wonderful hot chocolate, raspberry and lemon tart and mini macarons in such a charming and historic setting. Just bliss!

Cafe de Flore, Paris

Ok so I had to have a coffee at one of the most famous cafes in Paris... Just a short stroll from our apartment, the Café de Flore, at the corner of Boulevard Saint-Germain and Rue St. Benoit, in the 6th arrondissement, is one of the oldest and the most prestigious coffeehouses in Paris, celebrated for its famous clientele. The classic Art Deco interior of all red seating, mahogany and mirrors has changed little since World War II. Many a French intellectual sat and drank coffee here in the post-war years. I was lucky enough to enjoy a 'cafe creme' in the sun this week. A day to remember. Put this at the top of your list for your next visit to Paris, if only for the people watching alone.

I Love PARIS

A few Parisian icons. The Musee d'Orsay is my absolute favourite art museum on the planet!!! From the most famous Van Gogh, to Monet's, Renoir, Seurat, Sisely, Gauguin and Degas, a breathtaking masterpiece on every wall. I could spend hours and hours just wondering through this marvelous museum. The Eiffel Tower at sunset is a sight that I will never tire of, and there is nothing quite like strolling along the Seine and through the streets of Paris at night. Just a few of this weeks highlights.... still pinching myself to be back in this beautiful city that only gets better each time I visit and becomes more enchanting with every day I spend here...
