Merry Christmas eat read lovers!
Wishing you and your families all a very Merry Christmas and Safe and Happy New Year. Enjoy time with your loved ones, take the heels off and turn off the computer, put your feet up, swim at the beach, drink cocktails and hopefully have some time out to read and relax.  Thank you for all your support and following eat read love this year. I cant wait to share more with you in 2013. So for now I will be turning off the computer for a little while having a much needed break on the South Coast with friends and family. I will back in the new year with plenty more inspiration, new features and some little surprises too. Until then.....

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christmas Table Inspiration

Christmas Table Love
If you haven't heard of Kinfolk already then you are hearing about them now. One of my favourite places for entertaining inspiration is Kinfolk Magazine, featured many times on eat read love blog, and a haven of beautiful inspiration for super stylish small gatherings.  Kinfolk is a growing community of artists with a shared interest in small gatherings, and advocating a more natural approach to entertaining and table styling. A celebration of tables shared with like minded individuals, that allow friendships to flourish in a simple, uncomplicated, and less contrived way. With Christmas upon us I thought this gorgeous Kinfolk dinner at Terrain might just provide that little extra spark of inspiration you need to create a magical lunch or dinner with friends and family, whether it be a relaxed dinner by candlelight in your own backyard, a picnic under the stars, or a more formal table celebration with your closest loved ones. I just love the use of hanging twinkle lights, candlelit tents, fresh locally sourced ingredients, the use of natural elements like greenery in the table settings, up-cycled jars for vases, and the ever present flow of the outside-in. Wishing you all a wonderful and relaxing Christmas with loved ones and may you have plenty of time to eat, read and love this silly season. Natalie x

A Very Edible Christmas

Edible Christmas Inspiration with eat, read love
I don't need to tell you that Christmas is just around the corner. How did it just spring upon me so quickly? It always does that, and then before I know it its Dec 25, I have eaten way too much, spent way too much money and the craziness is all over. This year I am going to enjoy the lead up to Christmas JUST as much as the actual day and really have some fun entertaining. In the spirit of celebration and fun, I have gathered some of my fav  Christmas inspiration to bring colour and love to your table.

Apart from the wonderful Christmas traditions and spending time with family and friends, Christmas in Australia means Summer. And summer to me is a well deserved break from busy work weeks, long balmy days at the beach, late afternoon BBQ's, entertaining with friends, cherries, chocolate, and homemade ice-cream pudding of course!  Wherever in the world you are, whether it be a cosy hot chocolate with Christmas marshmallows, handmade chocolate hearts, or cherry pie, here is my list of beautiful online inspiration for the festive season, and some cool and quirky styling ideas too:
  • Call me cupcake - absolutely the MOST divine cakes and tart recipes EVER from amazing Swedish baker and photographer Linda Lomelino
  • Line T Klein food photography and styling to drool over, gorgeous dinnerwear, table settings and baking inspiration
  • Design-Dautore - some, weird, wonderful and slightly quirky images, such a great site for daily inspiration
  • Pretty Pickles Shop if you love pretty parties and bespoke party delights this site is perfect for styling your very own Christmas table
If you want to share any of your own wonderful Christmas recipes, please post them up on the eat read love facebook page or blog

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. Natalie x

Summer Reading #eatreadlovebookclub

Dec 13, 2012

Summer Reading List #eatreadlovebookclub
It has been such a busy year so not a lot of time for reading novels, and I for one cannot wait to get down to the south coast and get curled up with a few new books. There is nothing too heavy in this list... it is my summer escapism list for a little romance, foodie love and perhaps some interior inspiration as well. Some lovely gift ideas in here too for fellow eat read lovers....

Colour lovers: My love for colour, means the new book Colour A Journey by Victoria Alexander will be on the Christmas wishlist. Victoria has also written another of my favs, the Bathers Pavillion Cookbook
For the interior addicts: Stylist Megan Morton's new book Things I Love would make the perfect coffee table book and a wonderful present for someone special.
Fresh Foodies: dreamy food styling and recipes by favourite food photographer and blogger What Katie Ate. A big fan of The Selby blog also, this book looks awesome, and Pomegranate and Roses looks to be an absolutely beautiful one for the romantic chef at heart.
Historical Romance - as a huge fan of Paullina Simons The Bronze Horseman, the prequel Children of Liberty is all loaded up on the kindle ready to go. It sounds like it takes a while to set up all the characters in the beginning but in true Paullina Simons style apparently it all comes together beautifully in the end.
Teen Romance - if you liked Beautiful Disaster, then I have been told you will also like the Providence Trilogy by same author Jamie McQuire. Young (and not so young) fans of Beautiful Disaster will also be excited that the sequel Walking Disaster is due out in April, written through heroic lead character Travis's eyes. The Briny Cafe and the Secret of Ella and Micha also on the summer easy reading romance list.
Quirky & Sweet - And finally I have just started 'The Perks of Being A Wallflower' which has been recommended to me also as a lovely heartwarming read.

So only a few more days of work and shopping, then it is time for some much needed R&R. Well this list should keep me busy for a few weeks camping and relaxing on the south coast. That reminds me I must get my kindle light ASAP!

What will you be reading this summer? Please share your book recommendations with us on the eat read love book club via facebookinstagram @eatreadlover, twitter @eatreadlover and be sure to hashtag #eatreadlovebookclub to your book posts so we can find them.

Chair Candy and Turquoise dreams
It is past half way through the week and only a couple of short weeks until Christmas. Looking at this beautiful chair takes me to a dreamy place. A place I would like to be right now. Sitting here with a cocktail in hand. I found this GORGEOUS chair candy on Aldesign and I will keep searching for the source on where to buy this and more like it. Blissful.

Simplicity & String of Pearls

Simplicity & String of Pearls
These gorgeous photos are from the awesome blog The Klein from my favourite Scandinavian photographer Line T Klein. Line has been our featured artist many times on eat read love blog for her beautiful photography style and stunning interior, food and lifestyle shots. Line Klein always inspires, and these photos from a recent photography shoot in the home of SAND clothing's Marie Sand is no exception. I just love the simplicity of this home, the stunning black & white statement pieces, and the absolutely beautiful polished wood chest of drawers. And what girl doesn't love a classic string of pearls? Being a huge fan of solid rustic timber pieces mixed in with more modern designs, I really love this round table dining feature, soft lighting, natural light and the black bathroom is just perfect!

HELLO MAY

Dec 2, 2012

Hello May is a breath of fresh air bringing whimiscal, fun, quirky and handpicked local vendors to help you plan for your big day

Hello May is Australia’s newest online wedding portal – a cosy little destination consisting of a blog, magazine and directory – and a breath of fresh air in the wedding industry! Hello May is for the bride and groom who want their own special day to be... well, just that... their ‘own’. You won’t find cookie-cutter centerpieces, chair covers or clich├ęs at Hello May weddings – just whimsical, creative, fun and quirky individuality. The pictures above are just a taste of what you can expect from Hello May...

With one half of the Hello May team, Sophie Lord, a very talented industry vendor herself, running a small stationery design business, "we’ve always been all for supporting local business, particularly as so many of us can’t afford the astronomical print magazine advertising rates or aren’t keen on the ‘set it and forget it’ directories available! Soph started blogging about talented industry friends on her own website’s news page and soon compiled a “We Recommend” list down the side. A simple list of industry vendors who I knew were insanely awesome at what they did. The feedback and attention this page received blew everyone away and brides were emailing Soph daily to say thank you. "Before I knew it I had 60,000 hits in 12 months, all for a tiny stationery design business with little promotion.” Clearly there was a need for a simple yet quirky directory that not only had trusted and talented vendors on their pages but SUPPORTED them on a regular basis. ...And so, the idea for Hello May was born.

We are thrilled to welcome Hello May to the blog and of course wish the gorgeous Soph and team every success, of course don't expect anything less than gorgeous!! Issue #1 is now online ready to read....
