LIFE INSTYLE 2013 COLLABORATES WITH COOL EDIES TO LAUNCH STYLE LAB.
At the top of the annual design calendar is the Life Instyle trade event (21 -24 Feb), this year teaming up with co-founders of reputable styling house, Cool Edies’, to launch Style Lab. This new and unique interactive concept will be unveiled during the first event held at Sydney’s Royal Hall of Industries and Hordern Pavilion and is set to explore the world of art and design to introduce an interactive and visually remarkable experience to the program. ‘The importance of creativity and style has always been at the hearts of our events,’ says Exhibition Manager, Amelia Coote-Harris.’

Style Lab is set to explore the elements of creativity and style through a series of changing scenes designed and created each morning of the event by Cool Edies. Visitors will witness the creation of a real life photographic set, using exhibitor products and industry trends to develop and execute concepts on the spot to be admired by visitors until the next morning.

‘The new Style Lab concept allows us to draw visitors into the studio, just as if we are working on a real life shoot- except with a vibrant, live element mixed in,’ says Cool Edies.  Such artistic explorations will be inspired by international trends, crazy concepts and will set to push creative boundaries. ‘ You can expect to see us testing things out,..pushing limits,..and you can expect us to be listening to great music!,’ says Cool Edies.

Recognized as a MUST attend event for the style community, the collaboration between Life Instyle and Cool Edies has been a radical collaboration which pushes contemporary art and design. The exhibition provides a stylish setting as it ‘the main player in the interiors exhibition realm.  Every designer / stylist / magazine editor we know visits life instyle each year.’  says Cool Edies

The annual acclaimed trade event is held over four days and boasts an outstanding line-up of 300 industry leading exhibitors who have been carefully selected to represent premium, bespoke and design led products within a beautiful shopping environment. Hugh Stewart at Koskela

So rich and beautiful, Hugh Stewarts Still Life Collection at Koskela
Walking through Koskela, my version of 'interiors dreamscape', wasn't I just a little thrilled to stumble upon the amazing still life collection of acclaimed photographer Hugh Stewart. Mr 5 and I had just finished a wonderful celebratory lunch at Kitchen by Mike, and whilst wondering through the Koskela Gallery I just had to stop and stare at each and every one of these beautifully rich and layered photographs - the texture of simple antique bottles with hand picked flowers. Captivated by the light, the colours so deep and rich. From a Fathers Day bottle in the Sydney home garage, to Hydrangeas in Dylan Thomas's garden, bottles collected from local pubs, garden sheds in Hereford England, each and every one tells a beautiful story. One of my favourites the orange flowers in 'Saint-Hippolyte- Du Fort 1' above was photographed at a friends home in the South of France, the bottle from a local market with flowers from the side of the road.
“I have begun to try a slower, and more considered approach to photography. Because I travel so much I felt I needed a project. I find bottles in Antique Markets and flowers from people gardens” Often without their knowledge! Hugh Stewart
Hugh is well known for capturing memorable images of some of our most loved and intriguing celebrities gracing the pages of magazines such as British, Australian, French and American Vogue, Conde Nast Traveler, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. Enviable photo shoots with Johnny Cash, Jude Law, Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts, not too mention dreamboats George Clooney and personal favourite Leonardo Dicaprio.
If you want to get a glimpse of these captivating photographs drop by Koskela in Sydney's Rosebery - an entire warehouse filled with some of Australia's most fabulous designs. Then you have the perfect excuse for a well earned rustic lunch at Kitchen By Mike in the very same warehouse. Its hard to beat fresh snow pea and red rice salad, grilled corn with lime and homemade margarita pizza! The also sell wonderful sourdough loaves to take with you but get in early it gets very busy on weekends. An absolute haven of eat, read, loves!

Little Treasures, Made by Hand - Pia Jane Bijkerk

Jan 20, 2013

Internationally acclaimed stylist, photographer and author Pia Jane Bijkerk has a wonderful new limited edition book - "Little Treasures, Made by Hand".
I was so excited to find out that one of my all time favourite interior and still life stylists has a delightful new offering - Little Treasures Made by Hand. Pia writes about the journey on her beautiful blog - following the birth of her daughter gorgeous parcels began to arrive, each filled with the most beautiful handmade gifts from loved ones. So overwhelmed with gratitude, in the early hours of the morning an idea was born 'as bright as a shining star' according to Pia...

"Imagine if I could create a book, photographing and cataloguing each unique object, writing a little about each person who made and sent the gift, sharing links to their websites so others could also buy their beautiful creations or find out more about them. It would be a collection of little treasures, connecting creative souls around the globe. I thought, Yes, this would be the most wonderful way to say thank you…" Pia Jane Bijkerk

This will be the third 'Made by Hand' series, and this very special limited edition will be in both English AND French. The French title is Petits Trésors: faits à la main

What a wonderful idea indeed. I  have spent many a late night wandering dreamily through Pia's blog and book 'My Heart Wanders', so inspired by her travels to Paris and whimsical tales of falling in love with France. The book still sits on my favourite purple side table (pictured) right next to the chair where I so often sit and write my blog and dream away. Thank you for the constant source of inspiration. Natalie x

Jan 19, 2013

The most stylish wedding and lifestyle inspiration in Australia, when this years One Fine Day Wedding Fair hits Sydney again! This absolutely gorgeous beach wedding shoot above is just a taste of the style you can expect to see at One Fine Day this year. Not a tacky taffeta dress or daggy bridal bouquet in sight at this wedding fair!!

One Fine Day is a creative approach to wedding and event planning that will take place on the weekend of 2nd & 3rd of Feb 2013 at Sun Studios in Sydney's uber urban cool suburb of Alexandria. Bringing together Sydney's most talented and innovative wedding and lifestyle professionals under one roof, I can most definitely say that One Fine Day is an event not to be missed. The OFD team is headed by three of my favourite young entrepreneurs - Marissa Fleming from the Simple Things Studio & From the Owl, gorgeous photographer Nadean Brennan from Photography by Nadean and Jess McLoud from styling icons Oscar & Ruby. The girls started this last year with the aim of inspiring couples to beautifully express their own creative flair on their very special day. With lots of super stylish and 'out of the box' ideas and suppliers to help turn your special event into something memorable.  "One Fine Day will dispel all of the usual ideas about what a wedding should be, with options to escape the stereotypical"

With champagne and beer on arrival, beautifully styled tables, food tasting, live music and fashion shows, this is one event not to be missed for excited brides and grooms to be. Glamp it up next time you go camping  with a little Glamping
After a week of camping on the South Coast of NSW with fabulous friends, I decided that our camping set up might need a little 'glamping' inspiration for the next trip. I didn't expect to like camping as much now as when I was a kid....(I admit I have grown to love the 5 star luxuries) but was pleasantly surprised by how relaxing and fun it was. It helps when you are away with lifelong friends! Cooking delicious camp food on the weber, candles, glass of wine in hand and kids happily playing, its hard not to enjoy it. I thought you might like some of the fabulous glamping finds that I found online for your next camping trip. If you prefer a little more luxury than DIY glamping, Paperbark Camp in Huskisson is also a great place for glamping. Go Glamping has some great ideas and destinations too. Now the planning begins for the next trip. Bec, Lauren, Lisa, Tanya, Simone and Monique - this post is just for you girls! Natalie x x x

Cupitt's Winery - South Coast Dining

Jan 5, 2013

Photo's by Natalie Hayllar {eat read love}

I love our New Years tradition of a long ladies lunch with the family at Cupitt's Winery in Milton. This years lunch didn't disappoint. Delicious entree of Zucchini Flower and Rosemary Tart, followed by Black Angus Scotch with Smoked Tomato and Bois Boudran served beautifully on a rustic chopping board. The desserts were divine as always and I just loved my Chocolate Delice with Cherry Ripple Sorbet and Fresh Honeycomb. The Tropical Fruit Pavlova with Lime Mascarpone and Roast Hazelnuts was also a big hit with the family. I cannot wait for this Sunday's Jazz in the Vines with some cheese and Cupitt's Verdehlo! I love summer on the South Coast!!

Happy New Year
