Kinfolk Dinner Sydney - Saint Cloche

Yet Another Magical Kinfolk Dinner comes to life in Sydney - This Time a Small Sunday Night Supper 'In Praise of Slowness' at Paddington's Saint Cloche Gallery

It was a honour to host the latest Kinfolk Dinner gathering together with styling extraordinaire Lisa Madigan and blogging soul sister Jaclyn Carlson from Blog Society. Guests were invited to this soulful Sunday gathering for a long supper, a time to slow down, unwind, contemplate & be present. It was an opportunity to connect with like minds, feast on delicious, thoughtfully prepared produce, soak up a grounded & languid environment & experience some of the positive influences of slow living. After a small Slow Living Workshop, guests were treated to a delicious three course long table sharing feast prepared by Chomp, surrounded by beautiful artworks from Monique Lovering and Ceramics by Tara Burke in the gorgeous Saint Cloche Gallery in leafy Paddington.

When I first arrived and got a glimpse of what Lisa had created with the table I was blown away. Neighbours were peeking in taking photos as they walked past. I loved that Lisa brought the earth to our table with a lush centrepiece of soft dirt and leaves…a first time for everything and in true Lisa Madigan style, pushing the boundaries always pays off!! A huge thanks to Claire and Grant from Chomplife who cooked our beautiful hearty Wintery supper with soup, lamb shanks, creamy mash and colourful salads and sides, all served in bespoke ceramics made by Tara.

It was a truly magical evening, a few goose bump moments for me - listening to Monique talk about her time in Southern Italy and the inspiration behind her work + Tara talking about her ceramics and time in the Royal National Park - two places close to my heart and it just felt like there was a reason all of us were sharing a meal together. A table connected by a love for creativity, a passion for great food and art, and a need for real conversation. In true Carl Honore style we all put our phones and cameras away for a while, and just enjoyed being in the moment.

A heartfelt thanks to Kitty for generously opening her home and gallery to us to enjoy this special occasion and to Lean, Kat and David for capturing it all on film. And to our lovely dinner guests who came along and embraced the evening - it was a true pleasure to meet you ALL and I hope to see you again, you are always welcome at the Kinfolk table!

A very special thank you to all of our special event partners. As we are all volunteers, without your help and support these events would not be possible, so I would like to say a BIG thank you for collaborating with us!!

Eat Read Love Office Makeover
My office space has been slowly caving in around me. As I spend so much time working at home I decided it was time to cleanse my home office space, getting rid of my old cluttered mess and keeping just a few of my favourite pieces on display. I also wanted to create a little extra desk space as the eat read love team expands in the next few months (YAY! very exciting but more on that later!). I only had a small budget to work with to complete this project so working with some of my eclectic furniture, props and special pieces with a few fresh new lights, vases and candles from my local Super Amart Homewares department. The office makeover is still a work in progress, but it definitely is a much more inspiring space than the cluttered mess it was last week!

Featured Items include:
And of course my office wouldn't feel completely at home without some super special favourites including Blacklist Studio Prints, Lisa Madigan Original Oil on Canvas, Kinfolk Magazine, Nest Designs Mini Tea Light, with Combardis Elixir + Gascoigne & King Travelling Candle ready on hand for the stressful days!

Guest Bedroom Makeover

Guest Bedroom Makeover
Styling your bedroom need not break the bank, and you can certainly mix up a few luxurious essentials like high quality linens and artworks with some fun and fabulous accessories to create a simple, stylish and practical bedroom. I had lots of fun revamping our guest bedroom/office one the weekend, transforming the former 'junk pile' into a little haven that doubles as a creative space/'mummy' time out room. Here is a few fun ideas to help you transform your bedroom into the haven that you deserve.
  • Accessorise with Colourful Cushions with basic white walls and grey linen, I added some fun pops of colour with these new Kaleidoscope Cushions. Colourful cushions are an affordable way to change up your room as often as you want - you can keep the basics neutral and add pops of colour to create a new look without breaking the budget. The cute little Aloe Pick Extra Mini Tub looks 'real' and never needs water - the perfect house guest for me.
  • For Bedside Reading - If you are like me and enjoy a good book before bed, then you are going to need a decent lamp. I love my new White Elke Table Lamp* perfect for bedside reading. We picked up the old timber box for $30, which I have turned over to use as a bedside table. Vintage Books can be picked up from any old second hand book store or vintage shop. I grab the whenever I see them, and now have a selection in all different colours, easy and simple way to stack and style up the bedside table. How to Be Parisian Wherever you Are is a fabulous and funny read for lovers of French style and looks super cute too.
  • Luxe Linens for a Heavenly Nights Sleep After all you spend half of your life sleeping so why not treat yourself and your guests to some high quality sheets. Ettitude** offer the most beautiful selection of heavenly soft organic bamboo bedding that are both luxurious and affordable. They are also allergen free so perfect for those who suffer allergies or have sensitive skin. I am totally in love with my new Bamboo Bondi sheets in Grey - seriously silky and soft and come in the most beautiful range of colours too.

Best Road Trips in Australia - Teepee Dreaming

Best Road Trips in Australia - Teepee Dreaming
We took the boys on a road trip recently all the way to Bells Beach in Victoria stopping along the way at Rutherglen, Daylesford, Trentham and the Mornington Peninsula. Our final destination was Bells Beach, a surfers haven and a super friendly and chilled out coastal town, home of world famous surf breaks. We were so excited to stumble upon this awesome tee-pee adventure stay, spotted on instagram via the lovely peeps at Flinders Beach Shack (another reason why I love instagram). The few days we spent here Teepee Dreaming was certainly a highlight of the roadtrip.

So how can you book to stay here you might ask? Ripa Ride adventures was founded in Melbourne in 2013, owned and operated by Marlon Law and Jason Smale. Ripa Ride is a community website that allows people to list and book wild adventures like Kombi campers and girls surf lessons. The Bells Beach Tee-Pee was probably one of our favourite family experiences to date. If you could dream up a haven for busy little boys with lots of energy, and surfer dads, this was THE place! It had everything we needed right in front of us - super fun and cosy tee-pee for sleeping, fitted out with snug linen, torches mattresses and cushions. With amazing views across the sea to Winkypop, we loved sitting by the open fire pit as the sun went down to be replaced by millions of starts. For those that like the creature comforts, don't worry, there is also bathroom, shower and cooking facilities on the property too in the big shed, and plenty of great walking trails, surfing lessons and great food (and coffee) in nearby Jan Juc. We all absolutely loved it, and the Globe skate ramp on site was rather a BIG hit with the boys to say the least. I would absolutely love to return to this fabulous little Tee pee in Summer time with a group of friends, a place where you can sit back and watch the view, the kids can run free down the grassy hills, and spot a few Kangaroos while you take in the sunset. The quintessential Australian beach holiday, and did I mention it is only $100 per night! Nothing better than getting out on the open road and we are so glad to have found this lovely place.

A huge thank you to Marlon for his wonderful hospitality and making us feel so welcome during our stay. Ripa Ride has plenty of other Victorian adventures too that you need to check out from Girls Surf Weekends in Philip Island, Kombi Road Trips and Bike Trails.

{If you feel like hitting the road on your very own Australian Road Trip Gumtree* has some great campervans, cars and tents to choose from too that you can buy and sell online}.

Paper Daisy is the brand new dining experience at recently opened Halcyon House in Cabarita, NSW. Paper Daisy is a celebration of this unique part of the beautiful NSW North Coast. Confident coastal cooking in a relaxed setting, the food expresses the very best of the region’s unique produce and bourgeoning culinary reputation. Paper Daisy is the location for a very special Eat Read Love Pop Up Dinner + Blogger Retreat in July and I cannot wait to share all of the pics with you then. With one of Australia’s most promising young chefs Ben Devlin (Queensland’s Chef of Year 2014, ex-Noma and Esquire) leading the kitchen, it is bound to be wonderful, with a focus on sophisticated coastal dining.
