Event // Country Style Magazine together with The Champagne Bureau of Australia to Host Champagne Dinner at the Byron at Byron Resort & Spa Next Week. 

I am thrilled to be collaborating with Country Style Magazine and The Champagne Bureau of Australia for the second instalment of the 2015 Champagne Dinner Series. After the beautiful country escape we had recently at Wolgan Valley, it is now time to head to the NSW North Coast for a magnificent weekend at the luxury The Byron at Byron.

Tickets for the dinner alone on Friday 27th November may be purchased for $195. Accommodation is priced from $1050 a couple for two nights in a Superior Suite at this beautiful resort just minutes from the heart of vibrant Byron Bay. EAT || The Oz Harvest KitchenTable Dinners

As part of Good Food Month, Oz Harvest opened up their Alexandria warehouse HQ to the public, hosting 13 top chefs over 10 nights for their KitchenTable dinner series.

The intimate set-up features rustic communal dining tables set amongst flowers and fairy lights. Continuing in a communal vein, each of the three courses are served share-style, with wines matched by Tarra Warra Estate. The open kitchen set-up gives full view of whichever culinary great is cooking on the night. Participating chefs include OzHarvest Ambassadors such as Guillaume Brahimi of Guillaume, Hamish Ingham of Bar H, Lennox Hastie of Firedoor and Phil Wood of Rockpool.

ERL was lucky enough to sit down to dinner cooked by husband and wife duo Monty and Jaci Koludrovic, head chef and head pastry chef at Bondi’s iconic Icebergs Dining Room and Bar.


Their modern Italian menu featured bruschetta topped with scallops and foie gras, local burrata with prosciutto, silver perch baked with meyer lemon and a decadent Zokoko chocolate and olive oil mousse. All ingredients were donated to Oz Harvest by the restaurant.

EAT || Woy Woy Fisherman's Wharf takeover series

Set over the tranquil Brisbane waters, 'Woy Woy’s Fishermen’s Wharf' has been dishing up seafood of the highest quality, caught straight from local catchments since 1974. Well known amongst the locals and a definite stop off for coastal visitors, this part take-away, part-waterfront dining experience is currently run by Sam Clayton, a third generation family member.

With a passion for sustainable food and the promotion of local produce, Sam has teamed up with nine highly regarded chefs within the Sydney and Hunter regions to launch the monthly ‘Woy Woy Fisherman’s Wharf Takeover’ dinner series held on the first weekend of each month. The standard has been set high for all involved, with each of the chefs running restaurants with at least one hat or more in ‘The Sydney Morning Herald Food Guide 2016’

Launched in July this year, this dinner series is definitely worth planning a coastal weekend escape for in the coming months! The Eat, Read, Love team was lucky enough to be a part of the October takeover as Matteo Zamboni from the iconic Pilu restaurant in Freshwater took over the kitchen at the Woy Woy Fisherman’s Wharf, taking us on a four-course Italian inspired journey that both challenged and excited all of our taste buds.

The food was a very contemporary take on traditional Italian seafood dishes, with unusual flavour combinations such as grapefruit, asparagus and school prawns as well as hearty favourites such as the seared albacore tuna with a capsicum and preserved lemon risotto and a reinterpretation of the classic “alla puttaneseca” using local red gurnard fish. Each of the dishes were paired exceptionally with a selection of Italian wines by family wine specialist Michaela Clayton, helping to enhance these flavor sensations.  


The line up for the coming months is as exciting as ever, with Hunter Valley star chef Troy Rhoades-Brown of ‘Muse Dining and Kitchen’ and Khanh Nguyen from Sydney favourite ‘Mr. Wong’s’ taking over in the respective months.
